Superintendent's Proposed Budget

Superintendent's Proposed Budget
March 26, 2020

Sisters and Brothers:

Tonight, Superintendent Dade presented his 2020-2021 budget to the Board of Education in the midst of a 60 million dollar shortfall projected for next year.  The District is also facing a 30 million dollar deficit in the current budget year, but is confident that the state will provide a means to fill this gap.

The results by bargaining unit are as follows:

  • ASAR                    35 reductions
  • BENTE                 5 additions
  • RAP                       5 reductions
  • RTA                       191 reductions
  • SEG                       4 reductions
  • All Other Staff       5 reductions

If the budget passes as presented, the BENTE Union will not experience any cuts, and will instead gain 5 positions. There could be reductions in one area of BENTE and additions in another area of BENTE, but as of now, I have not been provided with specific information.  I have a scheduled meeting with Labor Relations and Human Resources tomorrow morning to get more details.
