Please take note of the following updates:
PROJECTED LAYOFFS: Over 200 members in school security and school food services received a layoff notice this past week. As per the thirty day notice requirement in our contract, these workers would be laid off as of October 16th.
We are doing everything we can to appeal to the Board of Education to vote down these cuts when they come before the Board this Thursday, September 24th. The latest interview that was played on WPXY, WBEE, and WCMF can be found here.
On Friday, I sent an e-mail to the other bargaining unit presidents asking for their support. As a result, the RTA and ASAR sent letters to the Board Members encouraging them to vote “no” on cuts to our members. The letters are attached.
Members in school food services and school security are signing up to speak at the Board of Education meeting that will take place this Thursday, September 24th at 6:30 p.m.. I will also be speaking on behalf of these workers. The meeting will take place on zoom at the following link: School Board Meeting.
