Lay-offs - BENTE Union Update 9-25-2020

Lay-offs - BENTE Union Update 9-25-2020
September 25, 2020

LAYOFFS:

First and foremost, I want to thank the people who were brave enough to speak at the Board meeting last night. They did an excellent job and should be proud of the way they represented their units and BENTE as a whole. Unfortunately, the Board of Education voted in support of the resolution to layoff over 200 BENTE members.

In the next few weeks, we will be doing everything we can to put people back to work prior to the layoff date of October 16. This will not stop our efforts and they are already paying off.

For example, I just received word that home meal delivery will begin on October 5th in two zip codes. This will bring back some of the SSO’s and food service employees.

If you received a layoff notice and would like to setup an appointment to speak with me on Monday or Tuesday of next week, please email me back with a suggested date and time.

In Solidarity,
