Sisters and Brothers:
This evening, the Board of Education voted to postpone Superintendent Dade’s 2020-2021 budget presentation to the public until Thursday, March 26th.
Some Board Members wanted to delay the presentation until Tuesday, April 7th. Their rationale: to allow the District to get a clearer picture from the state prior to releasing its own budget based on aid assumptions that may be subject to change. The motion failed, with Commissioners’ White, Maloy, and Powell voting in favor and Commissioners’ Sheppard, LeBron, Adams, and Elliott voting against.
The District was supposed to review the budget with the Union today, but postponed it, stating that they did not think it would be presented this evening. We will reach out again tomorrow.
