Important Updates From President DiClemente
November 1, 2016

In an email sent Tuesday morning, President DiClemente wrote:

Good Morning!

CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY PAY: Please be advised that in addition to getting paid for Monday, December 26 and Tuesday, December 27 (Christmas Eve and Christmas Day), the Union negotiated an additional personal day for ALL members to be used during the 2016-2017 school year on a day when school is not in session.  This will allow 10-month employees to receive an additional paid day to be used when school is not in session (i.e. Wednesday, December 28 in order to get three paid days during Christmas recess).  This should not be confused with the fact that ALL members are already entitled to use a personal day the day before Thanksgiving (a recess day).  Ten-month employees can get two additional paid days if they use one of their personal days on the day before Thanksgiving AND the additional personal day on a different day when school is not in session.

NOVEMBER MEMBERSHIP MEETING: Please be advised that due to construction on the parking lot at Rochester Water Works, we will need to move next month’s membership meeting to the Union Office (1600 Lyell Avenue - Upper Level).  The meeting will take place on Wednesday, November 16 at 5:00 p.m.

WEBSITE COORDINATOR: Congratulations to Jessica Rinebold, who was appointed to the position of BENTE Website Coordinator.  If you have any information or stories of interest that you would like posted on the website, please contact Jessica at Jessica.Rinebold@rcsdk12.org.

TOO COOL FOR SCHOOL TOUR: We have concluded our tour by visiting all locations and have handed out this year’s Holiday gifts from BENTE.  If we have missed anyone I can assure you that it is unintentional and we ask that you please contact the Union Office at 458-8670 so we can provide you with this year’s gift.

BENTE BASH: On behalf of all of the Officers, we hope that everyone who attended this year’s BENTE Bash had a great time.  A lot of hard work goes into the planning and execution of this event and I would like to thank all of the people who donated their time to help make this year’s party a successful one.  Congratulations to the Halloween costume contest winners (Ike and Tina Turner) and to all of the great costumes this year (Chris Kaufman as T-Rex was quite memorable!)

NEGOTIATIONS: Thanks to everyone who has submitted their survey for negotiations and for those who didn’t, you still have until the end of next week to turn it in.  I will personally read every survey.  Our proposals will be based upon the input we receive and through our experiences in the office in dealing with the most persistent issues. I look forward to working on your behalf to ensure a fair and equitable contract in the upcoming negotiations.

CURE PARTY: Thanks to those of you who donated your Holiday gift from the Union as a present for CURE.  Our annual CURE Party for children who have been diagnosed with cancer will be on Wednesday, December 14th at School of the Arts from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  If you are willing to volunteer for the event and/or are able to donate a gift or money for us to purchase a gift on your behalf, please contact the Union Office at 458-8670.

Enjoy your Holidays!
